The default of my iPhone was, “Richard’s iPhone.” When you have your hotspot turned on this exposes your privacy.

Three ideas for choosing a new name:

1. Use your business name or web address in my case "wellspotted.co.uk"

2. Advertise your products or services, 

3. A quote or inspirational message

• Go to Settings app > General > About > Name

 

You must have backups!!

Every app you install stores data in the cloud.

Backups make it so much easier to set up a new phone when you upgrade.

I use iCloud backups — they’re cheap. (I am aware Google and others off different options at different prices

I’m on the £2:99/month package for 200GB

  • Go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.

Manage your iCloud storage here and which apps get backed up.
Back up most of them given how cheap storage is.

You’ll pay a few £££'s and save yourself hours of work when you upgrade your iPhone. plus save a huge headache if you do lose your phone....

it also means all devices can access the iCloud

There are at least five places your iPhone will pull your home address.

You added a home address in Google Maps section if you followed a previous tutorial

You added a home address in Text Replacement section if you followed a previous tutorial

Three more places to set:

  • Go to Settings > Apple Id Etc. > Payment & Shipping.
  • Go into Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and add your Shipping Address option.
  • SIRI pulls your home address for your personal entry in your contacts. Go > Contacts> edit your own entry in order to make sure it’s current.

Set up these Replacement shortcuts

Everyone should have at least two short cuts. 1) email address 2) your home address.

Get used to the power of shortcuts, Add more.

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement

• Add your full address. I used the shortcut: "15"

• Add your full email address. I used the shortcut: "rich"

Test these after adding them.

When you type any of the shortcuts, you will now get an option to autocomplete to your full text replacement!!!!
